Philosophy & Curriculum

"Play is the highest form of research"

-Albert Einstein

Our program focuses on unleashing the potential and expanding the horizon of every child by sparking their curiosity and nurturing their core competencies. Our program blends the worlds' best practices from the philosophies of Dr. Maria Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and guidelines from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Our project-based collaborative curriculum is designed to provide the power, challenges, stimulation, and critical reasoning inherent in the creative process. This multisensory approach celebrates individual learning differences - nurturing all the intelligence: linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic.

My background consists of over 25 years working with children & families in various capacities. I have been a teacher, managed a home for immigrant teens, assistant director, interim director, was part of the team of government contractors receiving Afghan refugees at Dulles Expo last year. I am certified to provide ABA therapy to children with developmental issues and autism. I am originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil but have been here since I was a kid. My educational background consists of a CDA, a Bachelor’s in Psychology specializing in Child & Adolescent Development as well as courses in Applied Behavioral Analysis in order to become certified to provide therapy to the ASD population.

Ms. Adriana

Prek teacher

My name is Angela. As an educator, I believe that it is important for children to grow through creative mediums to strike their interests in learning, early on. After earning a bachelor’s in Theatre and Performance, I have been lucky enough to implement elements within drama to create bodily awareness and critical thinking in narratives. Because education plays such an important part in my professional career, I am currently completing a Master’s in Early Childhood Education to further my understanding of academic success through diverse and creative learning. For the past two years, I have worked with students in play based learning environments and have watched Reggio inspired methods inspire students and trigger curiosity within the classroom

"My 2.5 year old daughter started in their preschool class this year, and I couldn't be happier with my decision to enroll her here. She was at another school previously, but it was obvious that it was not the right fit for us. Because of our prior experience, I was very nervous about the transition, but the staff, particularly Sudha, the director, has made us feel SO comfortable and was very reassuring from the beginning. Sudha and co-director Usha are truly experts in the field, and it shows. My daughter now looks forward going to school everyday! She has truly thrived, and I have noticed positive changes in her behavior, particularly when it comes to trusting people outside of her family. I believe this is because the directors and her lead teacher, Andrea, spend a lot of one-on-one time with the students, and they are passionate about ALL children- this is reflected in the child's behaviors."

"My kid loves this school. The teachers are great and caring. The kids explore and learn lots of things. They are trained to think , experiment and learn. Lots of fun activities to do in class . I see a lot of improvement in my son's communication and expression. He is confident and comes back home with a joyful face. He is sad that Saturdays and Sundays are holidays. The teachers bond great with the kids. A wonderful place for the kids to start their schooling life."

"We have been attending TPLRMS summer camp - it's been a great experience. The children are fully engaged, the activities are diverse and explorative, and they have a surprising amount of outdoor activities given the location (mud kitchen, gardening, playground, water day)! Our daughter is thrilled to go to camp and we are excited to continue through the school year."

"Think Play Learn is truly an exceptional school! Both of our kids (ages 4 and 8) attended the summer program, and they talked nonstop about all the fascinating activities they did every day, from robotics and programming to arts and water fun. Ms. Sudha and her teaching team are seasoned educators and committed to each student's personal development. As parents, it gives us confidence to have our kids spend the majority of their day at TPLRMS. We couldn't be happier with our experience. Thank you, TPLRMS, for providing such a joyful learning environment for our children!"

"I highly recommend Think Play Learn as an engaging and caring environment for a child to discover themselves and the world around them. Both of my school-age children attended camp at TPL this past summer, and they were excited for the activities awaiting them when I dropped them off and excited to tell me all about their day and show me their creations when I picked them up. My older child loved experimenting with the coding Lego sets most of all, while my younger one enjoyed making crafts and expending energy playing badminton and running around the gym. The owner, Ms. Sudha, has a passion for child education that starts with the basic idea of listening to the children. I was so grateful that my kids were able to spend time in the safe, fun, and educational environment she created. And to top it all off, she offers all of this at a competitive rate. Again — highly recommend."

on Care Lulu

Our 4.5 year-old daughter has attended TPL since last summer and she's flourishing in their Pre-K Program. At dinner daily, she'll share with us books they're reading, art projects and science experiments they've done and songs & Spanish words they're learning! Even during spring break recently, she asked repeadtedly to return to school because she missed her teachers & classmates. We're grateful as parents that she loves TPL so much!

ThinkPlayLearn has been phenomenal for my children. They were able to work closely with my son after his father passed to help him feel safe and secure and ultimately thrive again. He's always excited to go to school, and I know he's growing both academically and socially. My daughters just joined the 2 year old class, where they have a ton of fun each day. I'm looking forward to them continuing to grow in this warm and loving environment over the next few years.

Parent of a Preschool Student

My child has been with Think Play Learn (TPL) for a year and a half and she has enjoyed each and every day! She is well cared for and loves learning. The teachers and staff are friendly, knowledgeable and responsive, but more importantly, they love what they do and teach the children with compassion, kindness and respect. TPL does so many hands-on and critical thinking activities that show the amount of care Miss Sudha and Miss Usha take to plan the curriculum each and every day. Miss Usha provides such individualized care for each child and knows their strengths/weaknesses and has a plethora of ideas on how to help your child if you ask her. Miss Sudha has high standards whether it comes to curriculum, staff she is hiring, or even the look of the school. She has put thought into every aspect of the school and is one of the best directors I have seen. Our family LOVES this school and can't say enough great things about it. I would highly recommend TPL to any parent who is looking for an excellent school with a loving environment.
